“Encircling Ewe” Hat Pattern

I’ve created another pattern to share with “ewe”!  Look for the PDF at the bottom.

This is a fun one that’s been on my mind for a while now. As you can see I’ve done it in 2 different color ways. I just couldn’t decide between them when I was at the yarn store, so I went a little crazy and bought both… Oh well, I’ll come up with something else with the leftover yarn anyway.

Now that I’ve made them both, I like the spring colors best.

If you look closely, you will see that the “spring” colored hat has a narrower band at the top. I did that one 1st and found that it would fit better by adding another set of blocks.

I used Cascade 220 for a nice winter cap. It’s still not overly thick, even with the stranded knitting.

This hat will come out much better if you use the technique described in my Stranded Knitting Tutorial. It’s a simple method of controlling the long floats of yarn for a more finished look.

I hope you like my new pattern as much as I do! Please take a moment to post a photo of your finished project on Ravelry.

Hi, I love the the pattern! but I’m not sure how you did the top of the hat where the snowflake is. Did you use doublepointed needles?

    • Dona says:

Yes. Just switch to the double points when you begin the decreases. I should have put that in the pattern – sorry. I’m glad you like the hat. I get lots of comments on it every time I wear it. Have fun!
