More Pear Butter! And a Feeding Frenzy!

I made more Pear Butter! This is an old Family Recipe. My daughter says this is her favorite, so I thought I better make some!

This recipe calls for 4 pounds of pears pealed and sliced – the equivalent of 10 cups. As with the recipe I shared in my post My Pear Butter Recipe you’ll start by cooking them in a pot with 1/2 cup of water until tender. Just don’t do what I did today and nearly burn them!

Again they will go in a blender or food processor and get pureed. Pour the puree back in the pot and add 2 cups of sugar. Stir until well blended.

Add 1/2 cup Orange Juice

1/4 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice

1/4 tsp Cinnamon

Continue to cook on medium/low heat, stirring occasionally, until it thickens. When it mounds on a spoon, it’s ready for the canning jars. Process as you would any jam – see my previous post if you need help.

This is a tried and true recipe that I make every year. Now you can make it too!

On another note – take a look at the Feeding Frenzy I created with the scrap bowl. I started with just one the goat…

Then two…

Followed by Roo, my eldest Miniature Horse…

Then came Cali…

And finally Cali’s son Dakota Blue. I don’t know what Katie was doing, but she missed all the goodies!
