Dinner from “The Wall”

To celebrate the start of The Game of Thrones Season 4, I’ve made a complete meal using recipes from “A Feast of Ice and Fire” by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Sariann Lehrer. This the official companion cookbook of A Game of Thrones.

This is an awesome book, full of wonderful photos that take you to the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. I’ll admit some of the ingredients are a bit odd in the fact that they are authentic to the theme. But each recipe has a modern counterpart if you prefer.

I chose my menu from The Wall.

We feasted on Medieval Beef and Bacon Pie.

Onions in Gravy

and Turnips in Butter. It was all delicious!

I paired the meal with some fresh apple slices to act as a palate cleanser.

I really wanted some Ommegang Beer to wash down the whole thing, but it was unavailable in are area for another week or two. But I’ll be watching for it (like a Night’s Watchman!)

This was a really fun way to start the new season! I can’t wait to try more of the recipes.

And for all you die hard Game of Thrones fans, don’t forget to take a look at Danni’s Gloves!

I also have a shawl pattern on Ravelry – The Godswoood of Winterfell.
