My Watercolor Quilt is Finished!

I finally finished the Watercolor Quilt I started months ago. I’m really pleased with the results. I call it “The View from My Sister’s Window”.

This quilt depicts the view from my sisters window as I last saw it. This quilt means a great deal to me as it is a Memory Quilt. I lost my sister just one year ago this past Sunday. She, like many others, fought a hard battle with Cancer which she ultimately lost.

But I promised her that I would not dwell on the pain, but rather remember the life she held so dearly.

This was the view presented to us while we sipped our morning coffee in her apartment in Boise Idaho. Imagine waking up to this each morning!

Darby really loved to watch the Geese in the lake and on the river that flows just behind the apartment. So naturally, I had to include them.

The border is a material that looks like natural wood grain, even though her window sill was white, I thought this looked better. It measures 94″x 72″.

If you want to read more about the process of creating this memento, you can find them here and here and here.

This was a tremendous amount of work and I don’t know that I will make another, but I’m truly glad I made this one. Each time I look at it I will remember my dear sister and our wonderful last visit in Idaho in the Autumn of her life.

this is stunning and looks exactly like looking out her window. I just ran across this site and I am thrilled to have found it. We think of you often- her circle of friends in Boise. So many wonderful memories with our beautiful Darby- I miss her daily. So many conversations, especially the last few weeks of her life were spent sitting in her window sill overlooking the pond! She was beyond amazing. We gather often as we can and take river walks on the Greenbelt and reminisce and share be a u Tiful memories as only she could say it. We would love to come and have you visit anytime- we would totally embrace walking with you on her beautiful river! Richest blessings to you and your family! Much love from Darbys Boise family! love Nancy

I’m so glad my quilt brings back memories of her window to others. She was so blessed to have such a wonderful “Boise Family”. It means a lot to me to know she had you all when I was so far away. I would love to walk the river again one day.
