Are you a Game of Thrones Fan? If so you then you know - Winter is Coming! You’ll need Gloves for that.
I finally finished my pattern for Danni’s Gloves and Mitts! I’ve been working on them for a while now, knitting, frogging, knitting, counting rows and stitches. Typical pattern writing stuff. And I will say, I’m pleased with the final project.
I’ve named these Danni’s Gloves (or Mitts) in honor of Daeneryas Targaryen, Khaleesi and Mother of Dragons. She is probably my favorite character in the story.
I was presented with 2 skeins of Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere. This yarn is fabulous! Really! It’s beautifully soft and luxurious with no splits or inconsistency. Made of 70% Superwash Merino, 20% Cashmere and 10% Nylon – really, how can you go wrong? Each 4 oz skein has 400 yards. It’s more than enough to make the Mitts or the Gloves. I especially like the way the dye gives the yarn depth and subtle changes in color. It works really well with this pattern, allowing the texture to be the star, unlike a variegated yarn that can distract from the patterning.
I defiantly plan to use this yarn again.
Sometimes creating a pattern can be a challenge though, especially when you get in over your head by trying to do too much at once like I tend to do. I wrote it, knit it, printed it, knit it again making notes as I went, and then printed it again and made another pair just to be sure.
Making the fingers is a bit awkward (it is on any glove pattern) , but they are not difficult.
But as I said, I love the finished gloves. And there is still time to get them knit up for this season.
So whether you prefer Mitts or Gloves, I hope you like these.
