Last year on January 1st I started a project I had seen on Ravelry. Of course I added my own twist to the pattern. I watched the sky and knitted the colors I saw each day for a full year!
You may have read about it in my previous post titled “I was Hoping for a 2″. If not, I hope you’ll take a look. It’s based on a pattern called “The Sky Scarf” By Lea Redmond.
It has been a full year since I started it, but I have completed it on schedule! It ended up considerably longer than I had anticipated. That’s my own fault. I forgot to take into account the fact that the lace rows would add length to the over all shawl. I also think some where along the way I must have added an extra YO (yarn over) or 2 because I had more stitches at the end than I should have.
But all that doesn’t matter. It looks great if I place the point of the shawl in the front and then wrap the ends around to the front. It’s full and snuggley.
However, I don’t know that I will undertake this project again. Keeping all the different balls of yarn strait was kind of a pill.
I am glad I did it though. The colors work well together.
This has been a year of many events and there is something comforting about the thought of Mother Nature continuing on as though nothing had happened. It sort of puts life in perspective I guess.
And really – it gives me a sense of accomplishment to have finished it!
