Feed Bag Tote

Today I watched a Free class on Craftsy. “Bag-Making Basics: Reversible Tote and Zipper Pouch by Kristin Link”. I really enjoyed it. The instructor was clear and easy to listen to. If you haven’t checked out what Craftsy has to offer, you should. They even have a French Cooking class! Anyway, I decided to make a tote bag using the bags that my Sheep feed comes in.

I followed the directions from the class except I used a solid piece for the outer bag. The one in the class is made with 2 coordinating fabrics sewn together. But I needed to make mine all one piece so my sheep would fit.

I also changed the handles a bit. I made them longer, but I also used the bag material on the top and my lining fabric on the underside. The instructions call for them to be 5″ wide. They are folded in half and then folded in half again. For each handle I cut a piece from the bag and from the lining material 2 1/2″ wide. I folded the edges into the center length wise and then sewed them together. This way the handle matches to outside of the bag, but has the more comfortable material where it will rest on my shoulder.

I think this is a super cute bag! Now I won’t have to throw away all those cute Sheep Feed Bags!
